Confidential transfers · Solana Token-2022
Blots is built around Solana's confidential transfers. Balances and amounts are encrypted before they leave your device, the proofs are made locally, and the addresses stay public. Here's exactly how it works, and exactly what stays on file.

On file
Confidential transfers hide amounts, not activity. Here's the full list up front, so you know what you're trusting before anything moves.
Stored on chain as ciphertext. Your own key is what decrypts it.
Encrypted three ways: for you, for the recipient, and for the mint's auditor if it has one.
Both token accounts appear in the transaction for anyone to read.
The mint is named in the instruction itself.
Each transfer lands in a slot and pays a fee, same as any other transaction.
Depositing into, or withdrawing from, a confidential balance shows the amount.
A route that touches a DEX exposes the DEX's own amounts. Starting it here changes nothing.
The token's creator can set one. Whoever holds it can read every transfer amount for that token.
Check these rows before you send confidentially, from any app.
Process
Your wallet encrypts the amount under three keys: yours, the recipient's, and the auditor's when the token has one.
Your device builds zero-knowledge proofs that the ciphertexts are well formed, agree with each other, and hold a value in range. Validators check the math without seeing the number.
One wallet approval sends it. Accounts, mint, slot and fee go on the public record. The amount doesn't.
The amount arrives in the recipient's pending balance. Their key decrypts it and moves it into their available balance.
Simulator
Fill in a transfer and see exactly what the chain shows, what it hides, and who can read the amount.
Draft. Edit anything on the left and the record follows.
| Time | To | Token | Amount | What the chain sees |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nothing filed yet. Your first record lands here. | ||||
The last column shows the shape of what an explorer sees where the amount would be.

Builders
Confidential transfers work today from Solana's spl-token command line. Here's the whole flow.
# Works today with Solana's spl-token CLI on Token-2022.
# Flags move between versions: check spl-token --help first.
# 1. A mint with confidential transfers switched on
spl-token create-token \
--program-id TokenzQdBNbLqP5VEhdkAS6EPFLC1PHnBqCXEpPxuEb \
--enable-confidential-transfers auto
# 2. An account with confidential mode configured
spl-token create-account <MINT>
spl-token configure-confidential-transfer-account --address <ACCOUNT>
# 3. Move public tokens into the confidential balance (this amount shows)
spl-token deposit-confidential-tokens <MINT> 100 --address <ACCOUNT>
spl-token apply-pending-balance --address <ACCOUNT>
# 4. Send with the amount encrypted
spl-token transfer <MINT> 25 <RECIPIENT_ACCOUNT> --confidential
Works todayReal spl-token commands. Try them on devnet first.

Send with the amount encrypted, straight from this page.
Done before any confidential send goes live on the site.
